Sakura stands out as a buffet-style restaurant with a strong focus on sushi and seafood, nestled along US-1 in North Brunswick Township. The spot caters well to those who enjoy a broad variety of Japanese-inspired dishes without committing to a la carte dining. It’s a go-to for people looking to sample multiple flavors, from classic sushi rolls to hearty hibachi steak and crowd-pleasing items like short ribs and hot & spicy crawfish.

The atmosphere here hints at a practical, unpretentious setting-good for casual dinners or group outings where variety matters. Arriving on a weekday evening, you’re likely to find attentive staff who quickly refill buffet stations and keep things running smoothly, which makes the experience feel relaxed without long waits. The setup is ideal for diners who appreciate living in the moment with fresh seafood options like sashimi and raw oysters, along with a mix of cooked items including French fries and edamame for those who want lighter or more familiar bites alongside more adventurous choices.

Locals and passersby alike seem drawn to Sakura for its combination of quality and value. The sushi isn’t the high-end artisan kind but maintains a freshness that satisfies, especially if you’re sampling the special rolls that balance textures and spice, like the Firecracker Shrimp or Pink Lady Roll. Those who love variety will find the buffet’s breadth a key attraction-plenty to try without breaking the bank, and enough different dishes to please both sushi enthusiasts and fans of cooked seafood or grilled meats.

Whether stopping in for a quick sushi lunch combo or settling down for a fuller dinner experience, Sakura fits a neighborhood rhythm where casual, unhurried dining and friendly service create a low-key but satisfying meal. It’s probably best to come during off-peak hours if you’re looking for a quieter vibe, as busy times bring a livelier, more bustling energy typical of local buffets. In all, Sakura serves well as a destination for anyone who wants a broad, laid-back Japanese buffet experience, especially in this part of central New Jersey.

I hadn’t been here in a few years, but I’m happy I came back! I dined in on a Tuesday night. The food was fresh and tasty, the customer service was great.

Was passing through heading to Princeton NJ and spotted this restaurant on the way. Food was great and everyone was friendly with smiles. Of course another place where I could not stop myself from eating and I lived every minute. Please come by and enjoy their foods. Super yummy

I was pleasantly surprised at this restaurant. The reviews are a bit hard to decipher but we tried it and I really liked it. They have so many different food options and I tried so many but will have to go back to try the rest. Great price and great tasting food. We sat down right away and someone was there immediately to take our drink order. Plates were cleared quickly when finished. Despite what some reviews have said, I found the place to be very clean. After seeing so many 5 star reviews I had my doubts but for what it is, it's the best buffet I've been to. The only disappointment for me were the desserts. They had many options but none of them suited my tastes and I didn't try any. They did have prepackaged ice cream from Hershey and I had that and it was great. Will definitely return!

Definitely a five out of five. There is no better value for your money sushi place in the New Jersey. The sushi is of good quality, and they even have sashimi, and it is of good quality. The rolls are good. Additionally, there is a lot of different cooked food items. They have lobster, and HUGE beef ribs, as well as many different dishes. It is not your typical Chinese style, some lo mien heavy buffet. They have good desserts as well, including fruit, cakes, and ice cream. All of this, comes at a price lower than most other sushi places. I was really pleasantly surprised at the quality, quantity, and value of the food.

Overall 5 stars. Very good value for the price. I would say some items are just OK, but some are stellar!! When you run a buffet of this size, quality will suffer; however, staff are attentive about refilling buffet stations and I personally think that their seafood and sushi is quite good. Definitely give this place a try. You'll get to try a wide variety of dishes for a similar price to eating out at a regular menu-based setup.
